Wide local excision
The wide local excision of a breast tumour has been orientated by the surgeon using sutures (S) and metal clips (arrows) to mark different surfaces of the specimen.
A localisation wire (W) has been inserted in the breast tumour under radiological guidance pre-operatively to allow the surgeon to excise an impalpable tumour.
This specimen has had two surfaces inked.
